Career Networking Day Event
On August 6th, 2022, we held our first hybrid networking event titled “Career Networking Day” with several JPort Senpais in attendance both virtually and in person. This event served as the conclusion for EMPOWER (YOU)TH, a series of three panel discussions aimed to create a community for international students where they have the opportunity to meet senpais with similar backgrounds who can support them with job-hunting and starting a career in Japan. There were a total of over 80+ participants present at the Hive Jinnan and on Zoom.

On August 6th, 2022, we held our first hybrid networking event titled “Career Networking Day” with several JPort Senpais in attendance both virtually and in person. This event served as the conclusion for EMPOWER (YOU)TH, a series of three panel discussions aimed to create a community for international students where they have the opportunity to meet senpais with similar backgrounds who can support them with job-hunting and starting a career in Japan. There were a total of over 80+ participants present at the Hive Jinnan and on Zoom.
Event Flow
The event started with the introductions of over 15 senpais online and offline. Thereafter, participants, senpais and students alike, engaged in a fun game of “Senpai Kahoot” to learn more about the senpais through fun facts about themselves! This interactive game allowed participants to experience a thrilling yet competitive moment to see who could get the most correct answers. All in good fun, many of the participants enjoyed getting to know the senpais more.
Afterwards, participants were broken into groups for the two networking sessions. In between these sessions, JPort provided complimentary drinks and snacks for a coffee break. After concluding both group sessions, the “Free Networking Session” provided participants with free time to further interact and get to know one another better.

The JPort Team is grateful for all the participation and support we have received to make our first hybrid event a huge success. We hope to continuously support students in their job-hunting endeavors and host more events where they can express themselves openly and freely without any boundaries.
