Recommended to International Students: Best Productivity Tool for Job-Hunting in Japan - How to organize your to-do's and schedule on Notion

[Shukatsu Tips: Volume 1]

What is Notion?

Notion is an all-in-one productivity tool. It is a project management tool where you can manage tasks and projects easily.

You can create:

  • Task Lists
  • Tables
  • Reminders
  • Notes

And more!

How do you use Notion for shukatsu in Japan?

Many senpais have suggested using Notion to help students keep on track with their shukatsu status since there are so many companies to apply to and it can get a little confusing. Staying organized is one of the keys to having a stress-free shukatsu journey.

One of the ways JPort Senpai, Thanh Hai Nguyen (better known as Hai-san) suggests doing so is by making a spreadsheet on Notion. Through Notion’s many features, you are able to toggle the settings to include:

  • Job Title
  • Company Name
  • Date applied
  • Stage of Application
  • Last Communication
  • Job description (Link)
  • Company site (Link)
  • Follow up

There are more details and instructions on the Notion left by Hai-san, so be sure to check it out. It is personalizable to not only your current shukatsu progress and goals, but also to your preferences. You can switch up the background, pictures, links, and colors, to make it into your space. The possibilities are endless!

To use this Notion page, click “Duplicate” on the upper right-hand corner! This way it copies into your workspace and you are able to edit the template.

Take action now!

Bonus Tip:

Notion has views that can allow you to filter out what you want to see. For example, in this template there is the default view, rejected, and to follow up, so you can manage what status job applications are at.

Hai-san has been so kind as to share this Notion template with all students, so what are you waiting for? Click the link now to start your own Shukatsu Tracker!
